Walk 1: Walk to Talavera Terrace

Category:  MODERATE. Several climbs.

Leave Plimmer statue at 12.30 pm.

Walk up Plimmer Steps and continue up Boulcott Street. Once you cross the motorway bridge (on the left side) take the track that leads up to Kelburn Park. At the top of the track, turn right and walk down to Everton Tce.

Lyttelton Harbour Festival of Walking

Dunedin commuters took to the train on Carfree day

Lots of Dunedin commuters took to the train on International Carfree day and travelled on a Taieri Gorge railway train into Dunedin.  Living Streets Dunedin fuelled walkers at lunchtime by handing out snacks to those on foot in the Octagon.  The Otago Daily Times reported on the day's activities

Christchurch mini-parks created on Carfree Day

World Carfree Day is an annual celebration of how community life improves when freed from the noise, stress and pollution of cars. Every September 22, people from around the world get together in the streets and neighbourhoods to celebrate World Carfree Day and to remind the world that we don't have to accept domination by cars..
